O’REMINGTON, LE NOUVEAU BATEAU
ACOMPAGNATEUR DES VOILES D’ANTIBES
La belle Goélette voit le jour en 1946 à Naples sous le nom
de « Maria Del Mar » où elle était initialement destinée à
effectuer le transport du vin. Son destin prendra un tout
autre tournant lorsqu’elle croise le chemin de Lord Reming-
ton, jeune héritier de la famille américaine Remington, cé-
lèbre fabricant d’armes et de machines à écrire. En 1958,
Lord Remington tombe sous le charme de la Goélette sur
les rives de la Riviera Italienne et l’acquiert sur les conseils
de son ami Federico Fellini, célèbre réalisateur et scénariste
Italien. Il la rebaptisera à son nom, « O’Remington », et la
métamorphosera en un véritable yacht de luxe.
En 1960, après avoir remporté la Palme d’Or du Festival
de Cannes pour son film la Dolce Vita, Federico Fellini de-
mande que les palmes soient gravées sur la proue. C’est en-
suite que les Grands Noms de la Cinecittà, important studio
de cinéma Italien, tels que Luchino Visconti, Marcello Mas-
troianni et Anita Ekberg vont se succéder à bord.
Maria Callas, également amie du Lord Remington, se re-
trouve fréquemment à bord de la luxueuse Goélette. Le
bateau devient un lieu de rendez-vous pour de nombreux
artistes de la Nouvelle Vague Française et de l’aristocratie
Italienne.
À la mort de Lord Remington, la Goélette est abandonnée
sur un quai à Athènes avant de se retrouver entre les mains
de Maria Callas et Aristote Onassis, riche armateur Grec.
Puis, Alberta Ferretti, célèbre styliste et créatrice de mode
Italienne, entreprendra à son tour d’importants travaux de
restauration sur le bateau, tout en restant fidèle aux ori-
gines des aménagements apportés par Lord Remington.
Revendue quelques années plus tard à une société de char-
ter, la Goélette est exploitée sur les côtes Soudanaises. Ce-
pendant, après des années d’errance en Mer Rouge elle est
finalement oubliée sur les quais du port de Gènes en Italie
et y dépérit.
En 2017, le O’Remington trouve enfin repreneur auprès de
Monsieur Didier CLOAREC passionné de vieux gréements,
rêvant de faire renaître ce majestueux navire au destin ex-
traordinaire. Plusieurs années de rénovation vont alors se
succéder afin de faire renaître cette magnifique goélette.
En 2025, il est racheté par Monsieur Philippe BERTIN avec
Erick LECLERC, Capitaine et Président de l’International
Cannes Yachting Ambassadeur (I.C.Y.A.).

The beautiful schooner was built in 1946 in Naples under the
name «Maria Del Mar,» where she was initially intended to trans-
port wine. Her destiny took a completely different turn when she
crossed paths with Lord Remington, a young heir to the Amer-
ican Remington family, a renowned manufacturer of weapons
and typewriters. In 1958, Lord Remington fell under the schoon-
er’s spell on the shores of the Italian Riviera and acquired her
on the advice of his friend Federico Fellini, a renowned Italian
director and screenwriter. He renamed her «O’Remington» after
himself and transformed her into a true luxury yacht.
In 1960, after winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festi-
val for his film La Dolce Vita, Federico Fellini requested that the
palms be engraved on the bow. It was then that the great names
of Cinecittà, a major Italian film studio, such as Luchino Viscon-
ti, Marcello Mastroianni, and Anita Ekberg would come aboard
one after another.
Maria Callas, also a friend of the Lord Remington, frequently
found herself aboard the luxurious Schooner. The ship became a
meeting place for many artists of the French New Wave and the
Italian aristocracy.
Upon Lord Remington’s death, the schooner was abandoned on
a dock in Athens before falling into the hands of Maria Callas
and Aristotle Onassis, a wealthy Greek shipowner. Alberta Fer-
retti, a famous Italian stylist and fashion designer, then under-
took extensive restoration work on the boat, while remaining
faithful to the original fittings made by Lord Remington. Sold a
few years later to a charter company, the schooner was operat-
ed off the coast of Sudan. However, after years of wandering in
the Red Sea, she was finally abandoned on the docks of the port
of Genoa, Italy, where she languished.
In 2017, the O’Remington finally found a buyer in Mr. Didier
Cloarec, a lover of old sailing ships, who dreamed of reviving this
majestic vessel with its extraordinary destiny. Several years of
renovations followed to revive this magnificent schooner.
In 2025,she was bought by Mr. Philippe BERTIN with Erick
LECLERC, Captain and President of the International Cannes
Yachting Ambassador (I.C.Y.A.).
