Quand le peintre Gustave Caillebotte, peint les ca- notiers ramant sur l’Yerres en 1877, il s’inscrit clai- rement dans un nouveau style, il place le spectateur au premier rang de l’action.
L’artiste peintre Philippe Gavin, s’inscrit dans cette même vision. Peintre autodidacte et régatier, il par- ticipe depuis plusieurs années aux régates de Yacht Classiques à bord des plus beaux Yachts. Ses escapa- des sur l’eau nourrissent son œuvre. Sa double com- pétence, lui permet de restituer avec transparences une atmosphère que les connaisseurs aiment à re- trouver dans son travail.
When the painter Gustave Caillebotte painted the boaters rowing on the Yerres in 1877, he was clearly part of a new style, he placed the spectator in the front row of the action.
The painter Philippe Gavin is part of this same vision. Self-taught painter and sailor, he has participated for several years in Classic Yacht regattas aboard the most beautiful Yachts. His escapades on the water feed his work. His dual skills allow him to restore with trans- parency an atmosphere that connoisseurs like to find in his work.
STÉPHANE GAMELIN
Né à Amiens en 1962, Stéphane Gamelin voulait être océanographe.
Ses rencontres avec le Cdt Cousteau, Jacques Mayol, Paul-Emile Victor, Alain Bombard, Haroun Tazieff, l’ont conduit vers l’image, vers la presse et la publicité. Il est devenu océano-graphiste.
Réputé pour sa créativité et son style, il possède une connaissance du nautisme basée sur une longue ex- périence de journaliste/photographe et de directeur artistique (Magazines Oceans, Neptune, Yachts) puis en Agence de Communication (Bord à Bord et actuellement O2Gam).
Il est membre de l’Académie des Arts et Sciences de la Mer, au collège photographie.
Born in Amiens in 1962, Stéphane Gamelin wanted to be an oceanographer.
His meetings with Cdt Cousteau, Jacques Mayol, Paul-Emile Victor, Alain Bombard, Haroun Tazieff, led him to the image, to the press and advertising. He became an oceanographer.
Renowned for his creativity and his style, he has a knowledge of boating based on a long experience as a journalist/photographer and artistic director (Maga- zines Oceans, Neptune, Yachts) then in a Communi- cation Agency (Bord à Bord and currently O2Gam). He is a member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the Sea, at the photography college.
