GENTLEMAN DE LA CÔTE
Bateau accompagnateur des Voiles d’Antibes, le Seaway ne passe pas inaperçu tant par ses lignes bien particulières que par son élégance et son passé char- gé d’histoire.
Construit en 1928 au Chantier Dickie & sons de Bangor (Pays de Galles), le même chantier qui deux ans plus tard construira le célèbre « Over the Rainbow » le futur bateau de Jean-Michel Folon. La construction fait appel à différentes essences de bois : la structure ainsi que la quille sont en chêne, les bordés en teck et les superstructures en acajou.
Seaway est un « Gentleman’s » ou « Pleasure » Boat, ces embarcations conçues pour aller assister aux régates le long des côtes britanniques.
Après avoir été réquisitionné en Ecosse, afin d’escor- ter les sous-marins britanniques pendant la seconde guerre mondiale où il arborait fièrement le pavillon de Saint-Georges, il navigua encore quelques années dans les îles britanniques avant d’être abandonné.
En 1987, son actuel propriétaire en fait l’acquisi- tion (ou du moins ce qu’il en restait ...). Après une rénovation fidèle à ses plans d’origine, le Seaway na- vigue de nouveau dans les eaux britanniques avant de rallier la Méditerranée.

Le Seaway est basé au Port Vauban à Antibes. Son propriétaire aime naviguer avec sa famille. Marin émérite et vigneron passionné, ses deux passions, son bateau et son vignoble, ont en commun cette belle « robe » qui capte le soleil, ce « nez » qui dégage tant d’années de travail et de passion et ce « goût » pour la finesse et l’élégance ... Mais être soucieux de l’étiquette n’empêche pas une am- biance familiale et chaleureuse, appréciée de tous ceux qui montent à bord.

Mothership of Les Voiles d’Antibes, Seaway does not go unnoticed, due to her particular lines and elegance as well as her prestigious history.
Built in 1928 at the Dickie & sons shipyard in Ban- gor (Wales), the same shipyard which two years later will build the future boat of Jean-Michel Folon, the famous “Over the Rainbow”. The construction uses different types of wood: the structure as well as the keel are in oak, the planking in teak and the superstruc- tures in mahogany.
Seaway is a “Gentleman's” or “Pleasure” Boat, these boats designed to attend regattas along the British coast. After being requisitioned in Scotland, to escort British submarines during the Second World War, where she proudly flew the white ensign, she sailed for a few more years in the British Isles before being abandoned.
In 1987, its current owner acquired her (or at least what was left of it ...). After a renovation faithful to its original plans, the Seaway sailed again in British waters before reaching the Mediterranean.

The Seaway is based at Port Vauban in Antibes. The owner likes to sail with his family. Distinguished sai- lor and passionate winemaker, his two passions, his boat and his vineyard, have in common this beauti- ful "dress" which captures the sun, this "nose" which releases so many years of work and passion and this "taste" for finesse and elegance ... But being attentive to etiquette does not prevent a family and warm at- mosphere, appreciated by all who go on board.
